Terms & Conditions

Below are the comprehensive Terms & Conditions for courses offered by OranTeach. Please read them carefully before booking. By paying for a course, you agree to adhere to these policies and acknowledge the inherent risks involved in sailing.

1. Your Contract with OranTeach

These Terms & Conditions form a binding contract between you (the “Participant”) and OranTeach (“we,” “us,” “our”). Your booking becomes official upon receipt of payment. By completing payment, you confirm your acceptance of these Terms on behalf of yourself and any guests included in your booking.


2. Course Details

  • Duration: Courses typically run from Saturday at 3:00 PM to the following Saturday at 9:00 AM, with the vessel returning to the base marina on Friday afternoon.

  • Content: The curriculum may include sailing theory, navigation, safety protocols, practical boat handling, and routine onboard tasks (e.g., coiling ropes, pulling lines, cleaning).

  • Physical Requirements: While not necessarily strenuous, Participants should be prepared to assist with basic duties such as steering, handling sails/lines, and light cleaning.

  • What’s Included:

    • Full board for 7 days (breakfast, lunch, dinner)

    • Port and marina fees

    • Fuel

    • Tourist taxes

    • Cleaning fees

    • Personal instruction

    • Online theory materials

  • Not Included:

    • Flights and travel to/from the base marina

    • Food or drinks consumed ashore

    • Travel/health insurance

    • Instructor gratuities (tips)

    • Any personal expenses unrelated to the course

Note: Participants are responsible for arriving at the designated marina (often near SPU Airport) on time for the course start.
 

3. Changes to Your Course

3.1 Itinerary & Scheduling

We make every effort to follow the planned schedule. However, we may need to modify itineraries or dates due to weather, safety concerns, or other unforeseen issues. Such changes do not entitle Participants to a refund.
 

3.2 Force Majeure

OranTeach will not be liable for cancellations or changes caused by events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, political unrest, regional safety issues). Participants are strongly advised to secure travel insurance to cover these scenarios.
 

4. Cancellations & Refund Policy

Life can be unpredictable. We strive to balance our need to prepare and allocate resources with your potential need to cancel:

  1. Cancellations up to 14 Days After Booking: A 10% administrative fee of the total course fee is non-refundable.

  2. Cancellations 90 to 61 Days Before Course Start: We will retain the 25% deposit.

  3. Cancellations Within 60 Days of Course Start: Unfortunately, no refunds are available.

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing (via email). The refund policy applies based on the date your written cancellation is received.
 

5. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend obtaining comprehensive travel insurance that covers unforeseen events, including cancellations due to personal emergencies, trip interruptions, weather disruptions, and any additional travel or medical expenses.
 

6. Payments

  • A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking.

  • The remaining balance is due 60 days before the course start date.

  • If payment is not received by the due date, your booking may be canceled and subject to the refund policy outlined above.
     

7. Instructor Availability & Unforeseen Events

In rare circumstances, if I (OranTeach) am unavailable due to personal emergencies, war, safety concerns, travel restrictions, or other factors beyond my control, we will attempt to provide a substitute instructor of the highest standard or reschedule the course. We are not responsible for any travel-related costs you may incur.
 

8. Conduct Aboard

  1. Compliance with Orders: All Participants must follow the skipper’s or instructor’s instructions at all times.

  2. Disruptive Behavior: Should any Participant’s behavior jeopardize the safety of others, the vessel, or the enjoyment of fellow guests, we reserve the right to remove said Participant from the course without refund.
     

9. Legal Obligations

  • Local Laws: You are responsible for complying with all laws and regulations in the area where the course is held.

  • Crew List Registration: Participants must be accurately listed on the official crew manifest. Unauthorized individuals are not permitted onboard.

  • Prohibitions: Removing artifacts, antiquities, or natural resources is strictly forbidden.
     

10. Health & Fitness Requirements

  1. Medical Disclosure: You must disclose any medical conditions or physical limitations that may affect safety. We reserve the right to request medical clearance.

  2. Substances & Impairment: Participants agree not to use drugs or alcohol in a manner that endangers themselves or others.
     

11. Responsibility for Personal Possessions

Participants are responsible for their personal items. OranTeach cannot be held liable for theft, loss, or damage to personal belongings (e.g., electronics, clothing, luggage). Adequate travel insurance is advised.
 

12. Safety
Briefing & Risk Acknowledgment

  1. Safety Briefing: A thorough safety briefing will be given before departure.

  2. Assumption of Risk: By participating in a sailing course, you acknowledge the inherent risks of sailing, including potential injuries from wind, water, or equipment.

  3. Liability: OranTeach is not liable for injuries except in cases of gross negligence or reckless conduct performed by Oran.
     

13. Yacht Specification

We reserve the right to alter the yacht’s specification or make last-minute adjustments to ensure safety and enhance your learning experience.
 

14. Photography & Media

  • Use of Images: We may photograph or film Participants during the course for promotional use.

  • Opt-Out: If you wish to be excluded, please inform us in writing. We will respect your request by removing or not using identifiable images.
     

15. Passing or Failing the Course

International Yacht Training (IYT) Certification:

  1. Skill-Based Assessment: Achieving an IYT certificate is contingent upon demonstrated skill, knowledge, and successful completion of all required assessments.

  2. No Guarantee: Enrollment does not automatically guarantee passing. If you have concerns, discuss them with the instructor.
     

16. Complaints

If anything fails to meet your expectations, notify me as soon as possible so we can seek a resolution. Communication helps us address issues promptly.
 

17. Disclaimer

Sailing involves inherent risks. Except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct by OranTeach, Participants waive all claims against OranTeach for injury, loss, or damage.
 

18. Final Note

Despite the legal language, my objective is to deliver a wonderful, safe learning experience. If you have questions or special needs, please reach out.
 

19. Updates & Governing Law

OranTeach reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions as needed. Any significant changes will be communicated. These terms are governed by Israeli law and by relevant local regulations where the course is held.
